Sankala Fine Cuisine is located in Maenam soi 1 at Kirikayan Luxury Pool Villas and Spa, a luxury resort situated a kilometer inland against the beautiful backdrop of Samui’s hinterlands. Sankala offers Thai and international fine dining at affordable prices.
The d้cor is tropical modern and the restaurant pleasantly open-air with views out to extraordinarily lush gardens that include frangipani, banana trees and jungle foliage.
Try the signature Sankala salad, a medley of seafood served on diced fruits with two separate dressings – an unusual combination but one that works extremely well, and is so well presented that it looks like a work of art. Especially recommended are the red snapper martado and the beef topped with mashed potatoes and cheese – a surprisingly delicate take on an old favorite.
The culinary team, headed by chef Wassana Suibangdam goes to every length to make your dining experience a remarkably good one. Food is absolutely fresh right down to the herbs that garnish your plate – you’d think they had just been plucked straight from the garden.
You can enjoy a splendid lunch or dinner or any kind of in-between snack or meal. The restaurant boasts a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu with a wide enough variety to appeal to all tastes. If you order western you’ll get a basket of freshly home-baked bread, along with dips and butter, while Thai dishes are accompanied by an appetizer that changes daily.
There’s also a chilled walk-in wine cellar offering wines from both the old and new worlds with prices that will suit every pocket.
The service is excellent; friendly and courteous staff look after your every need and do so without hovering. Guests are made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere is suitably laid-back with spacious seating. Leave room for some of the excellent desserts, including Sankala’s brilliant tiramisu. There’s also a bar adjacent where you can enjoy a sundown drink.
