Since opening just two years ago, Punnpreeda Hip Resort in Bangrak has gained an excellent reputation for its tranquil setting, the quality of service and its delightful restaurant. It’s a success story built on simple principles and a clear vision of what guests should experience, whether staying for a week or two or just popping in for a drink.
A feeling of relaxation starts the moment you walk through the gardens towards the beach. It’s here that popular Daaraadat Restaurant is located. Tables are placed around the cozily-lit pool, just a step away from the butterscotch sands. Towering above the beach you’ll see a trio of massive coconut tress that sway gently in the breeze and add to the laidback atmosphere.
It’s an ideal sundown spot for cocktails. Enjoy drinks like Punnpreeda Sunset, an elegant mix of vodka, Malibu, Mekong, orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice and grenadine, or a Samui Blue Sky with Jim Beam, triple sec, blue curacao, lime juice and sprite.
Chef Paiboon and his team have compiled a menu that celebrates regional Thai delicacies, fresh local seafood and international favorites. Particularly recommended is the spicy smoked salmon salad with Thai herbs and Tom Yum Goong (spicy hot and sour soup with shrimp, lemongrass and mushrooms) are firm favorites for guests to start with. And many opt for the Goong Pad Punnpreeda (stir-fried prawns with asparagus, mushrooms, carrots and broccoli in oyster sauce) or the Gang Phed Ped Yang (grilled duck in red curry coconut cream) as main courses. And don’t worry about the spiciness of the curries here, you’ll always be asked just how hot you like your food.
Other popular dishes are wasabi calamari and chicken and mango salad with spicy honey dressing as appetizers. Daaraadat’s rib-eye and pork spare ribs with barbecue sauce are a meat-lover’s idea of heaven. The seafood meanwhile is bursting with freshness – the fishing fleet docks just along the bay.
Daaraadat has a great setting right on the beach; you’re just a hop and skip form the water’s edge. And you get a wonderful view right around the bay with the imposing Big Buddha statue just to the right. It’s even more stunning at night as this bay isn’t overdeveloped and ruined by unnatural light in the evening. Daaraadat Restaurant scores top marks as a romantic spot and is an excellent choice for dining out.
