Azizskandar Awang, a Malaysian born extraordinaire chef that has made his name abroad by creating one of the best culinary and gastronomy taste in Koh Samui. All this began when young Azizs got his first kitchen experience as a commis at Renaissance Palm Garden Hotel and to Marriot Putrajaya Malaysia the year after. He then joined Renaissance Kuala Lumpur as Saucier at Marche Fine Dining Restaurant and within the same year he was also recognized as “The Best Young Chef” in Malaysia and went on to win gold & silver medals in Malaysia & Singapore at the Golden Chef Hat & Chaine des Rotisseuers competition.
Azizs left his native country and got his first overseas posting as Outlet Chef at Renaissance Koh Samui. With his culinary knowledge and his hunger for higher achievements, he was offered Executive Chef position at Karma Resort in 2008. In 2010 he was recruited by Rocky’s Boutique Resort (The Dining Room) also as Executive Chef. In 2012 he joined The Scent Hotel & Peace Resort as Group Executive Chef. Ready for his next challenge Azizs is now the gastronomy leader for Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort – Tree Tops Sky Dining & Bar and Ocean Kiss Restaurant. Aziz’s creations are mainly French based influences and classics with a modern approach using the best and freshest ingredients possible. Azizs is currently recognized as one of the best chefs on the island. He is still continuing his passion with the creativity, latest techniques, and innovations that have produced the unique and incredible dishes.
