A Roundup of The Country’s Favourite Thai Dishes At The Height
World-renowned Thai cuisine is best enjoyed on its home turf and Samui is lucky to have top places to savour the nation’s delicacies. Timeless favourites and exquisite dishes are to be found at The Height, a comfortable and thoroughly contemporary restaurant situated at Silavadee Pool Spa Resort.
A buggy takes you down to the restaurant which is set on rocks overlooking the sea. You’ll be greeted at the door by friendly staff, who are as attentive as they’re efficient. The Height consists of an air-con dining room, but also has a wonderful al fresco terrace, both of which give you views out over the sea.
Enjoy cocktails or a long drink as you browse the menu, which lists close on seventy items. The menu, by the way, has chilli symbols to indicate which dishes are hot and you can always ask staff to adjust the degree of spiciness. No worries either if you’re new to Thai food – they’ll help you choose dishes to your liking. There’s also a page of vegetarian Thai dishes, which are equally as good as those with meat or fish.
There are tasty starters, such as chicken in pandan, spring rolls, skewers of satay chicken, beef and pork, then and salads and soups. When it comes to main courses, you can feast on dishes such as a traditional massaman curry or roasted duck in a rich red sauce. And Samui being an island, there’s naturally plenty of fish, which you can enjoy in various ways, whether served whole or as part of a green curry or baked, northern-style, along with herbs and served with a delicate chilli sauce.
The Height hosts a themed night every Tuesday, simply called A Taste of Thai, and features a beautiful buffet and barbecue with live cooking stations. It’s highly popular and you’ll need to book your table in advance.
