A South African national, David joined Anantara Hotels and Resorts in 2014 as Executive Sous Chef at Anantara Layan Phuket Resort and the Residences by Anantara Layan in Thailand. Where, in addition to managing day-to-day kitchen operations at the luxury resort’s three restaurants, he had first-hand experience of opening the exclusive Anantara residences featuring innovative cooking and catering facilities and private butler services.
Later moving to Anantara Hoi An Resort in Vietnam as Executive Chef in 2016, and now in Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort, Chef David has been leading the team of over 35 staff members as well as overseeing the kitchens of three outlets, in-room dining and Anantara signature private dining at the 106-room luxury beachfront property. Prior to joining Anantara, Chef David served as executive sous chef at LUX* South Ari Atoll resort in the Maldives and Sous Chef at the Four Seasons Serengeti Tanzania.
Well-versed in molecular gastronomy techniques and from a fine dining background Chef David brings to Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort over ten years of experience managing and working in multi-cultural teams, both on-property and at free-standing restaurants, in seven different countries, including Maldives, Thailand, Vietnam, Tanzania, UAE, Seychelles and his native South Africa.
